Location: Research Triangle Park, NC
The computer numerical control (CNC) machinist reports to the machine shop supervisor and is responsible for making quality machined components with CNC machines. They work with precision, close tolerance parts.
This position requires a thorough understanding of blueprints, a dedication to quality, an exceptional work ethic, and the ability to work as part of a team.
Duties and Responsibilities
Run CNC mills and lathes.
Perform own setups on machines.
Read and interpret blueprints.
Use calipers, micrometers, and all other standard shop measurement instruments.
Perform first piece inspection on parts, and consistently keep them within specification limits.
Understand programming concepts, and update tool locations and part offsets as applicable.
Actively participate in a team-based, lean manufacturing environment.
Prerequisite Education, Skills, and Technical Knowledge
A high school diploma
Three to five years of experience running CNC mills and lathes
Either a CNC certification or some machining experience and a willingness to attend and successfully complete a certified CNC training program
Shop math proficiency
